Stroll for an hour along the historic pathways in what was once the largest lung sanatorium in Germany. Listen to interesting facts from the planning of the complex right through to the idea and construction of the treetop walkway.

Dive into the day-to-day life of the tuberculosis patients or the Soviet soldiers, who have all left their mark, and search for evidence from the more than one hundred years of history of this magnificent site. Enjoy the spaciousness of the park and discover how nature has reclaimed its habitat.

Learn how a once abandoned place has now become a “saved place”. Your guide will take you on an exciting journey through time from the origins of the Beelitz Sanatoria right through to the current day and also give you an insight into how the site will be further developed during the next few years.

Building tour at the beginning – everyday life – architecture

During this 90-minute tour of the building the guest has the opportunity to get to know the three historic buildings – the women’s pavilion A4, the cook’s kitchen and the wash kitchen/laboratory – from the inside. Basic information on the history and layout of the Beelitz sanatoriums and the everyday life of the patients is explained by the tour guides. Information on the architectural and technical design and its functionality is provided by trained guides at appropriate points in an entertaining way, as are interesting facts about the treatment of tuberculosis over the past 100 years.

An excursion into the underworld of the Beelitz sanatoriums

During the exciting tour, you will have the opportunity to enter the tunnel system and see part of the sanatoriums from below. Supply tunnels with heating and power supply technology, the potato cellar and many technical details make this tour a highlight – not just for technology freaks.

Join our porter Heinrich on a two-hour journey through time, starting at the time when the Beelitz sanatoriums were built and ending with the presentation of the BAUM & ZEIT project.

You will learn about and experience everyday life as a patient in Beelitz-Heilstätten, hear history and stories from times gone by and at the same time gain an insight into various unique buildings.
